Good morning, horror fans. In what will soon be the highest grossing film of all time based on budget versus box office intake, Paranormal Activity is the first hand account of a demonic haunting. Micah and Katie are an average suburban couple living in the San Diego area. Since the young age of eight, Katie has been aware that something is constantly with her. By the time she moves in with Micah, she realizes that whatever it is that's with her really doesn't like him.
Micah, being a skeptic, only makes the situation worse by investing in surveillance equipment and other means of communication that basically open the door to the manifestation of this haunting. Both Katie and Micah start to become unhinged as things get worse and the activity picks up leading to a wonderful conclusion which is not only very realistic but also very scary. And it's been a long long time since Henry called a movie scary.
Activity was directed by Oren Peli, a former video game programmer who just up and decided to make a movie for roughly $11,000.00. Peli sold the film to Dreamworks for a whopping $3 million and since, the picture has gone on the make over $62 million at the domestic box office. Dreamworks, Paramount and the producers of this film have paid very very little to promote this movie. Using free social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, Paramount started a "demand it in your town" marketing campaign which has proven to be very successful.
Henry was in contact with director Peli a little over a year ago as a result of Henry's first screening of the film. Then Peli made millions on this fantastic movie and now he doesn't talk to Henry anymore. If you are reading Oren, I'm not mad at you. You made the best movie Henry has seen in a long time. You deserve everything you get. Happy October 27th. Enjoy!!!
